ATLANTA, GA (December 11, 2024) — The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Reverend Dr. Antonio D. Proctor, Sr. as Interim Dean of the Morehouse School of Religion (MSR). In addition to this new leadership role, Dr. Proctor will continue serving as ITC’s Senior Admissions Officer and Director of Academic Support Advisement.
Morehouse School of Religion, a founding constituent of the ITC, has long been a vital institution in shaping the future of theological education and Baptist leadership. Dr. Proctor’s appointment comes at a significant moment following the school’s reinstatement as a full constituent member of ITC on July 1, 2024.

With MSR’s return, we are poised to further strengthen the Baptist presence at ITC and prepare students as Prophetic Problem Solvers for impactful ministry in today’s complex world.”
A native of Forsyth, Georgia, Dr. Proctor brings a rich blend of academic, pastoral, and community leadership experience to his role. A passionate advocate for education and its power to transform lives, he has pursued an extensive academic journey:

Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education – Summa Cum Laude, Emmanuel College (Franklin Springs, GA)

In addition to his academic credentials, Dr. Proctor has faithfully served as Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Forsyth, Georgia for the past 14 years. He is an active leader in the New Era Baptist Convention of Georgia, where he serves as Third Vice President, and also plays an engaged role nationally with the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Dr. Proctor is the devoted father of one son, Antonio Jr. (A.J.), and remains committed to bridging the academy and the church through transformative leadership and ministry.
His appointment marks a renewed chapter for the Morehouse School of Religion as it continues its legacy of developing visionary Baptist leaders dedicated to faith, justice, and service.
