Bennett Hall, the Morehouse School of Religion dormitory, was made possible by contributions from churches of the National Progressive Baptist Convention [ the Progressive National Baptist Convention], the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, the New Era Baptist Convention of Georgia, the Board of Education of the American Baptist Convention [now American Baptist Churches] and Mr. and Mrs. John Nuveen of Chicago.

Many of the Morehouse School of Religion students receive financial aid to attend the Morehouse School of Religion. Contributions from their Baptist’s state conventions, associations and conferences make part of the difference

The C.D. Hubert Lectures is a Morehouse School of Religion hallmark. The annual series convenes in February and is a centerpiece of Morehouse School of Religion Founder’s Day celebration.

The tall, charismatic pastor was renowned for the memorable sermons he spun from tales, anecdotes and Scriptures, but rarely captured in manuscripts. Taylor, a preacher’s preacher, kept his thoughts in his head before ushering them forth, and kept a black pocket Bible handy when he wanted to refer to the sermon’s Scripture reading for the day.
