Dr. Joseph Evans, Dean of Morehouse School of Religion stands in front of the historic Martin Luther King, Jr. Chapel, and beneath the statute of the Martin Luther King, Jr located on Morehouse College’s campus. There, briefly Dean Evans summarizes the philosophical goals and objectives of Morehouse School of Religion. Then he introduces the Interdenominational Theological Center’s fifty-ninth commencement speaker. Dr. Calvin O. Butts III, senior pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church Harlem and president of the State University of New York – Old Westbury Campus. His commencement address is entitled “A Charge to Keep” that was pointed toward the graduating class of 2018.
